As well as our exciting summer menu, we’re delighted to be able to tear the paper off our 2017 Christmas menu. Because it’s about families coming together to share special dishes, Christmas is a really important occasion in Italy.

That’s reflected in all the incredible, traditional dishes that Italian families enjoy at this time of year. If you’re a regular visitor to Casalinga, you’ll know that we want you to eat well whatever the occasion – but Christmas is the perfect excuse to go one step further and really celebrate the good things in life.

Of course, here in the southern hemisphere, Christmas occurs at the hottest time of the year, so we’ve given some of the classic Italian Christmas dishes a special Casalinga twist, so they still deliver all the seasonal feel-good factor as well as making sense here in South Africa.

Fresh South Atlantic Falkland’s calamari tubes and tentacles, flash grilled in olive oil and butter with Calamata olives and white wine.

Seared fillet of Ocean fresh line fish, served with a choice of a lemon butter and parsley, cajun or prawn sauce. (prawn sauce R30 surcharge).

Prime beef fillet, grilled to your individual preference. Served with a choice of black pepper, mushroom or herb-&-wine sauce. (Sauce R25 surcharge).

fresh Namibian Atlantic Sole, expertly dressed and poached and flash grilled in the oven. Caped with parched sliced potatoes, and a cream parmesan sauce.

Slow roasted lamb shank, coated in a vegetable & herb-infused red wine reduction. Finished off with Nona’s homemade mint sauce.

What are others saying?

We've been to Casalinga more times than I can remember. It's more than food - it's an experience. Sitting on the open terrace having lunch, walking in the veggie garden between courses, having coffee and dessert in the expansive garden... this is the place to unwind. A place to celebrate special occasions or to turn a normal lunch into a special occasion. It's our "go-to" Saturday afternoon dining/socializing restaurant - tied to many memories. We take all our out-of-town visitors there. A great day out.
