OUR MENU

As the seasons change, so to do the Casalinga menus. We’re inspired by the awesome flavour possibilities of the fresh produce from our garden, and we’re excited about all the ways we can combine them in delicious Italian recipes. Whenever you visit, you’re assured of a meal bursting with taste, vitality and goodness.

We believe in using only seasonal fruit and vegetables, and drawing on our rich Italian culinary heritage to create contemporary versions of authentic country dishes. In our menu you’ll find classic dishes, and also meals that are unique to Casalinga – a testament to our chef’s fascination with food, their willingness to work hard to perfect recipes, and the fun they have cooking in our kitchens.

CALAMARI ALLA GRIGLIA - 70.00
Fresh South Atlantic Falkland’s calamari tubes and tentacles, flash grilled in olive oil and butter with Calamata olives and white wine.

Crumbed and deep-fried mozzarella cheese, served on a bed of homemade Napoli sauce with a hint of chilli.

Prime Indonesian giant snails, sautéed in creamy garlic sauce, infused with fresh garden baby spinach and mushrooms, served in a delicate puff pastry basket.

Shelled medium tiger prwans, pan-fired in white wine, garlic & parlsey. Finished with grilled New Zealand mussels, infused in garlic butter.

Seared fillet of Ocean fresh line fish, served with a choice of a lemon butter and parsley, Cajun or Prawn sauce. (R30.00 extra for Prawn Sauce).

Fillet of prime beef steak, grilled to your individual preference. Served with a choice of black pepper, mushroom or red wine & herb sauce. (Extra Sauce R25.00).

Butter flied, deboned and filleted brook fresh Rainbow trout, caught in the winter chilled highland brook waters of Mpumalanga, Topped with lemon butter and roasted almonds.

Slow roasted lamb shank, coated in a vegetable, herb and wine infused reduction sauce and finished off with Nona’s homemade mint sauce.

What are others saying?

We've been to Casalinga more times than I can remember. It's more than food - it's an experience. Sitting on the open terrace having lunch, walking in the veggie garden between courses, having coffee and dessert in the expansive garden... this is the place to unwind. A place to celebrate special occasions or to turn a normal lunch into a special occasion. It's our "go-to" Saturday afternoon dining/socializing restaurant - tied to many memories. We take all our out-of-town visitors there. A great day out.
